I don’t know about you guys, but I’m in real bad need of some Piggin! I feel like my mental health has suffered from going without my weekly dose of hero work. Hopefully this weekend, the skies will be clear and the ruts will be dry enough to take another bite out of the big dump by the windmills in Silver Springs. After that, we’ll work to catch back up on other spots.
Slow start to Operation Outskirts
My big plan for Operation Outskirts has also suffered from the mud. A few solo trips have been made to take care of the Off Grid Pigs (yes, they’ve officially joined the family), but that’s about it so far.
The only constant on Fort Churchill Road is change – at least in this weather. So far, it hasn’t been able to snag my mighty Burbie, but I’ve driven around several trucks that got stuck and left behind. I hear a road grader got stuck there, even! Listen to 775 Offroad when they tell you stay off the mud! The only reason I keep going, is I got Pigs living out there, and I live only a few miles away.
Assuming the weather cooperates, I will start scheduling these Monday & Friday morning hauls from the camps in towns all over. This is a great volunteer opportunity for those who can’t make weekend runs.
As many Daytonites have heard, there was a fire at the camp behind the cemetary water tower recently. I haven’t spoken to any firefighters or LEO’s, but I have talked to one of the campers via Messenger. I’m told the humans and Sparky the dog escaped the flames, and are currently staying with friends in Carson.
Free rakes for volunteers!
Our friends at Pyramid Lake Food Distribution Center in Wadsworth hooked us up with literally hundreds of plastic rakes! We have enough to give them away to every volunteer. I can only imagine how perfect we can get those cleanup sites, if every volunteer is equipped with one.
Huge thanks to the distribution center, which does so much for the community with tons of food and commodities. Their facility is amazing! If you happen to live in the Wadsworth area, and need some help, it’s open to all, not just the people on the res. You can call them at 775-217-7344.

KTMB’s Great Community Cleanup
We’ll be joining KTMB, Hill’s Angels, and several other groups for their big annual cleanup in North Valleys on April 29th. I highly recommend coming out to this one. It’s a lot of fun every time we join forces out there to rescue those awesome trails, and ride with all the 4×4 groups. I will be posting more details about this soon.
Blood Drives
You know how much we Pigs love to save some mommas and babies! Here’s our current stats, as of 3/20/23:
Pints | 533 |
Gallons | 66.6 |
Potential lives saved | 1599 |
More chances are coming up, to be the literal reason someone lives. Hit that button to become a hero!
That’s all I have to brag and whine about this week so far. If you have any questions, or just wanna give me a WAZUP, you can call or text me at
775-220-7152.
Thanks, Pigs!
